The world has changed a lot since last year. You could probably say that we have entered into a new phase. Things that were previously unthinkable have become our reality. It is all a bit crazy. Cities have gone into lockdown, shops have closed, people have lost lives/jobs, etc. The way people work has also changed. More and more people have started to work from home due to concerns about the pandemic.
You may be thinking, what does all this mean to me? What should I do with all these changes happening at once? Well, honestly I don't know. No one really knows. We live in an age of great uncertainty. But what I can say is that there are things we should be doing in order to be better prepared for change and uncertainty. We may not be able to change the situation but we can certainly learn to adapt to the situation.
These are the things I focus on constantly, I believe they can help you too. There are three aspects I look at - health, wealth and the mind (or mental well-being).
Health
Health is probably the most important thing. Without a healthy body, there is no motivation to do anything. I try to pay attention to what I put into my mouth as most chronic diseases are caused by bad diet. In times like these, it's extremely important to keep our immune system at an optimal level. Nutrition and exercise are important. I like to do these things on a daily basis: get plenty of sun light (vitamin D), do some kind of exercise daily and practise fasting. Of course, it's impossible to be perfect all the time, but I try my best.
Wealth
I don't think anyone can say that money isn't important. Money can give us security and freedom. It's important to be knowledgeable about our personal finance. The more you learn, the more you earn. On a regular basis I try to learn about the economy, learn about different markets, learn about new opportunities, learn to invest, learn a new skill, learn to have the right money mindset, etc. I know the current situation might be difficult for many people, but it doesn't mean there are no new opportunities to create wealth. The important thing is to keep learning so that we become confident about money.
Mind
Whatever it is that we do, if we don't feel good about it, there is really no point in doing that. I think it's extremely important to be optimistic and postive as much as we can, even just a little bit is better than no optimism at all. I know it's probably easier said than done but if the world was to end tomorrow, we might as well enjoy the time we have left. So I try to remind myself to be grateful for what I have and find things that make me happy as often as possible, even if it's just a very small thing such as a cup of coffee.
These are the three areas I focus on entering into this new phase of life. There is a lot of uncertainty but there is also a lot we can all do to prepare and adapt. What about you? Is there anything that you do to prepare yourself for this new phase?
