A chance encounter

Cecily G.

When I was living in China, I took a trip to a mountainous part of Chongqing. I planned the trip in a hurry and didn't know exactly where I was going. I had to take several trains and buses to my destination. When I got off one of the buses, a Chinese woman saw me and helped me find where to get the next bus. We bought the tickets together, and then on the bus we had a long conversation (in English). I found out that she was also traveling by herself and was visiting from a distant province. When we arrived at the resort town, she asked where I was staying. I said I hadn't even booked a hotel (yes, wow!) She said maybe I could stay at her hotel too. I booked a room at the hotel, and she also helped me buy tickets to the tourism sites. We had dinner together, and the next day toured the site together (seen in the photo). How amazing that I happened to meet her on the bus and we traveled together. I kept in touch with her and even visited her later in the city she lived in. I felt so lucky that I randomly met such a nice and kind person.

Have you had an experience like that too? Perhaps we can talk about it in our next lesson!
