I’m not normally a person who makes New Year’s resolutions, but I think this year I will have to make an exception.
My first resolution is a very common one, so much so that it’s a bit of a cliche, but I really need to lose weight.
Like many people, in my 20s I was able to eat as much as I wanted, and managed to keep the same slim figure regardless of how much pizza I stuffed into my stomach, but time has caught up with me. Even before Christmas it was clear that two years of lockdown were starting to take their toll on my weight, but the festive period, with its mince pies, roast potatoes, chocolates lying around the house, and trying to get through all the bottles given as gifts, has put the final nail in the coffin for my formerly svelte appearance.
So I sit here with my belly protruding over my belt, my double-chin and hamster cheeks clearly visible on my webcam in Skype, with no choice but to try to lose some weight.
I am not sure how I will do it yet; intermittent fasting seems to be a popular choice these days, then there are more drastic methods such as a ketogenic diet, but I think to start I will just try to eat less and cut down on the carbohydrates!
If you want to talk about dieting, or anything else, book a Conversation and Correction class - and happy new year!
