Hello, everyone! How’s it going? It’s Teacher Asuka.
Today, I’m going to talk about ‘a Church named Anne’s Rose’.
As you know, Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who was born in Germany, who were persecuted by the Nazis and moved to Netherlands. She wrote the famous 'Anne’s Diary' during her almost 2-year-stay at a hideout there. After that, she was caught by the German Army, moved to concentration camp, and had died at the age of 15 and 9 months.
A Visiting Japanese Choir, the Congregation of Jesus caught attention of Anne’s father, Mr. Otto Frank in Israel in 1971. Since then, they had interacted, and it had been given the beautiful ‘Souvenir d’ Anne Frank’ (which is Anne's Rose) as a token of 'Friendship' by Mr. Frank as a Christmas present in 1972.

‘A Church named Anne’s Rose’ was started to build in Nishinomiya, Hyogo prefecture in 1979, for the anniversary of Anne’s 50th birthday, and dedicated in April 1980.
According to Mr. Otto Frank’ s message for the church's dedication ceremony, he had showed that there were some impressive statements in 'Anne’s Diary’ as follows: 'What is the war useful?’, ‘Why don't the humans live together peacefully?’. Moreover, she had left behind as 'I will work for the world and mankind'. We can see that Mr. Frank had longed for strong wishes in appealing for peace through 'Anne's Diary'.
In every May 13 to 17, you can visit to see such beautiful 'Anne's Rose', and Peace Museum in the Church. It is located near Hankyu Railway Kohyoen Station.
