Do you celebrate Easter in your country?

Weekly Topic: Do you celebrate Easter in your country?

Easter is celebrated throughout Australia and there are many exciting events held by different communities to mark the occasion.

Where I live, in far north Queensland, there are plenty of family friendly easter activities – paid and free – for everyone to enjoy and bask in the tropical sunshine. Most of the little towns will have free games, activities, markets and easter egg hunts but in Cairns, the largest city in FNQ, there will be a scrumptious food festival, boat cruises, live music bands and virtual easter egg hunts.

I have two daughters under the age of four and I initially thought about taking them to an annual event held in Kuranda, called the ‘Great Easter Egg Drop’. https://www.athertontablelands.com.au/kuranda-easter-celebration/. There will be an easter bunny throwing chocolate eggs in the village for people to collect as many as they want! However, on second thoughts I have decided it may be a bit overcrowded because it will be during the school holidays and the chocolate will melt easily in this tropical weather! Instead, I think my family and I will stick to doing something fun locally which will, of course, involve an easter treasure hunt for my children to experience for the first time!

My four year is already getting into the spirit by designing some colourful easter egg designs and I am looking forward to making a slow cooked roast with all the trimmings :--)
