I often hear and read something that says 'money can't buy happiness, but it can buy ice cream which is kind of the same thing.'
At first, I thought that was rather weird. Having some ice cream may work on kids to make them happy or stop them from crying or throwing tantrums but not for adults' dramas for sure. However for someone like me who's got a sweet tooth, it is such a sweet delight to have a scoop or two.
I crave for something sweet very often especially before and during the time of the month. Furthermore, it is absolutely necessary for me to have something sweet after every hearty meal, not to mention that living in a tropical island like the Philippines, we really need something to cool us down. Thus my go-to desserts are always mango ice cream and yema cake. Yema cake is a Filipino chiffon cake with a custard filling known as yema.
Eating sweets and desserts is without doubt very useful in uplifting our mood and reducing feelings of stress. No wonder stressed is desserts spelled backwards. We just have to keep in mind not to eat too much of it though. Everything should be in moderation because we are what we eat. If we eat too much sweets, we become a sweet person. Kidding aside, your type of happiness may not be in the form of ice cream, nor cake but whatever it is, remember Charles Eames words ' take your pleasure seriously'.
