Hello, everyone. How are you today? It's Teacher Asuka.


Today, I'm going to talk about ' Employment in the future'.

In 2013, Dr. Michael Osborne from the Oxford University has 
announced the thesis ‘Future of Employment. The thesis 
concluded that about 47% of American workers will have lost 
their jobs in ten years after analyzing every category such as creativity, social intelligence or so of 702 jobs which is decided by the US Ministry of Labor. In this thesis, you can also find what jobs will disappear, its percentage and order of each 
disappearing jobs in the future. 

This surprising result has related 'how jobs will be 
computerized' as the thesis's subtitle. Technology has highly 
developed for ten years. 
Increasing computerized technology as well as Artificial 
Intelligence (AI) will change people's life rapidly as follows:
spreading of automatic operated vehicle will prevent taxi or 
truck drivers from getting their jobs.

Various kinds of robots which can be reproduced and moved 
delicately like human's movement has developed and 
introduced in factories, which will prevent blue collar workers from 
their daily jobs as well. 
Every routine work can be the works that can be computerized 
or automated, so such jobs will have been replaced by robots or AI. 

This is just an example, you know. 'We should face these 
kinds of fact in the nearest future', said Dr. Osborne.

So, what should we do? 

He suggests that the jobs having originality or social 
intelligence will be unlikely to be automated, indicating 
predictive disappearing value of architect 1.8% and technical 
designer 3.8%. Because robots or AI are not good at suggesting 
or thinking creatively.

As above, we have got the point that we will face disappearing 
tasks which can be computerized, however, the tasks with 
non-routine, complex perception and creative intelligence tasks 
are unlikely substituted by computers. We need to choose 
such creative tasks in the future. 


Finally, I’ll let you know that Dr. Osborne has announced that 
necessary skills in 2030 are as follows: 
Learning strategies, Psychology, Instructing, Social Perceptive, 
Sociology and Anthropology, Education and Training, 
Coordination, Originality, Fluency of Ideas, and Active 
Learning.
