That is also so important for myself!
"規矩(kiku)作法(saho)守(mamo)り尽(tsu)くして破(yabu)るとも離(hana)るるとても本(hon)を忘(wasu)るな"
"規矩作法を守り尽くして" means to keep a way of doing by your leader exactly; "破るとも" means to break through the way of leader's doing; "離るるとても本を忘るな" means to establish your own way of doing without missing the true existance you want to learn or seek.
That is the doctrine for learning sadou, tea ceremony or something by Rikyu Sen.
He is a founder of tea ceremony: he sought essence of men through the move from the start to the end of making tea and established tea ceremony.
This doctrine tells a way of learnig things. I believe you can understand the doctrine from your instinct. When you learn something with some texts yorself and at the lessons from cafe talk, you have to keep in mind putting these order in place.
