The trip to the City of Cape Town will be a 15 hours’ drive and we plan to have a 1 hour break along the way divided into 2 breaks of 30 minutes so that our driver will keep fresh throughout the journey. We plan to arrive at the City of Cape Town on a Friday afternoon in order to can have an early supper that will allow us our desired 8 hour sleep in order for us to can be able to recover from the 15 hours’ travel so that we can be refreshed when day 1 of our vacation resumes on Saturday morning. Therefore the plan is to depart Johannesburg on Friday at 00:00 (midnight) to can arrive in Cape Town around 16:00 (4pm) hence give us enough time to can unpack our belongings, refresh then head to the restaurant at the city for an early supper at 7pm probably which will allows us the ability to can squeeze in 8 hours of sleep that will leave us refreshed on Day 1 of our vacation.
We will be in the City of Cape Town for 10 days with 5 days in the mountains and the other 5 days at sea. We had a difficult decision to make on whether the first 5 days of our vacation will be at the mountains or at sea but came to a decision to spend the first 5 days of our vacation on the mountains and the remaining 5 days of our holiday at sea since we will arrive back in Johannesburg on a Friday night of a Monday which we'll have to be back at work or only 2 days before we go back to work. Moving about or up-and-down the mountains will take its toll on us hence leaving us exhausted while spending time at the sea will be relaxing. After taking these factors into consideration we decided for the first 5 days of our vacation to be spend exploring the mountains while the last 5 days of the trip relaxing at the sea. If we will spend the second week of our vacation exploring the mountains that will be bad planning because when we get back to work we will be exhausted instead of being relaxed and refreshed for the new year ahead.
Part of our mountain exploring will include the Aerial Cableway at the Table Mountain, a hike up Lions Head, meeting the Boulders Beach Penguins in Simons Town, as well as Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens that is filled with a rich diversity of plant and bird species and where live music concerts are held.
And for the sea leg we will Scuba Dive on the first day, then visit the Robben Island on the second day. For the rest of the week we will be swimming and just relaxing at the ocean while reading a book, soaking the sun by the beach, and taking casual walks along the ocean.
After the Cape Town holiday, hitting a Game Reserve will be our most probable next holiday destination which im looking forward to also updating you on how we will go about planning for that particular vacation. On the Game Reserve preview i will include how exactly our Cape Town vacation unfolded.
