Kursinhalt

For students who are fine with in-person converstaions, but are nurveous about phone calls.
Let’s go from “not being so good on the phone” -> “I can handle phone calls” -> to “I love taking phone calls”.

I worked at a call center for about 6 years.
I will share with you what I learned in answering calls and working in the service industry.

This lesson is recommended for students who are intermediate or above and have already studied keigo (honorific expressions).

In my phone call lessons, I check with you in advance to see what kind of conversation skills you would like to practice, so that I can prepare for your lesson.
In order to properly practice conversations, one situation per 30-minute lesson is recommended.

Please leave me a message when you book a lesson to let me know what kind of situation you would like to practice with during your lesson.

I may need to ask you to confirm some details before the lesson, because the honorific expressions used on the phone for customers, for your colleagues, and in daily life are different.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but I would appreciate your cooperation in order to make your lessons more productive.
*If this is your first phone call lesson and I have not heard from you about these details, I will do a lesson based on “connecting a call from a customer to a person in charge”.

↓For your reference, here are conversation scene examples.

Connecting customer calls to the person in charge.
Answering when the person in charge is not available because they are out of the office, on the phone, on break, etc.
Transferring calls to other departments.
Providing information on wrong numbers.
What to do when you can’t hear or understand what someone is saying.
When to ask someone else to take over the call, and advice on how to tell your colleagues.
Calling the customer’s company and asking to be connected to the person in charge.
Setting up a time for a meeting or interview, and contacting the client (please tell me if you are calling calling within your own company or your client’s company)
Notifying customers on changes or cancellations of appointments, and how to politely apologize
Politely refusing a sales call (at work or at home)
Practice answering the phone at your part-time job (please let me know what kind of conversation you often have)
Informing someone that you are going to be absent or late for work (you can choose to be polite or brief)
Contacting the city hall, library, etc.
Making a reservation at a hospital, hair salon, restaurant, etc.
Calling an online order service to make a purchase

I will send you files about conversation practice and recording after each lesson.
Your conversation file will be recorded by the tutor, and the audio recording will be sent to the student’s Skype after the lesson.
Listen to the recordings from your lesson and review your pronunciation and accents to improve your natural intonation.

Phone calls are not a face-to-face conversation. I will also talk about what words not to use and how to be attentive.
If you would like, please also let me know what you are uncomfortable with when talking on the phone.
Let’s work together to solve your concerns.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you in my lesson.
