Q. Hi James D, why don’t you start with a quick introduction?

A. I have been a professional writer and editor for many years and have been working for a humanitarian aid organization for the past several years. It’s the most exciting work I have ever done because it brings me into contact with people from all over the world. I feel like I am really making a difference since our mission to create clear communications during a crisis situation, to give affected people “news they can use.”
I wanted to begin teaching English because I did have some students while living in Southeast Asia and I really enjoyed it.

Q. According to your profile, you had lived in Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. How was life in Asian countries?

A. I loved living in Southeast Asia. Over almost four years I mostly lived in Chiang Mai, a wonderful old city in northern Thailand. I plan on moving back there later this year. I find east Asian culture more civilized and often more evolved than the West, perhaps because Eastern culture is so much older and can be more refined in many ways.

Q. How do you spend your day offs? Is there anything you are into right now?

A. My hobby is restoring vintage Japanese motorcycles. I have owned many, particularly old GS series Suzukis and old KZ series Kawasakis. Back in Chiang Mai I have a newer Kawasaki sportbike for every day riding and an old Yamaha DT125 dirt bike I am slowly restoring. I would love to visit the Suzuki motorcycle museum in Hamamatsu one day

Q. What is the main feature of your lesson?

A. I think the best thing I can offer students is enthusiasm and help them build confidence. I believe mistakes are just another way to learn. We all make mistakes. The goal is to learn from one’s errors and improve and not feel as if it means failure.

Q. You have a lot of interesting lessons! Which lesson would you recommended for new students?

A. If a student is looking for general English lessons, my Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced would be useful. I try to tailor the lesson to the student, which is why I ask each student to contact me beforehand so I have some idea of their level.
For students seeking better career or business opportunities, I have a variety of Business and Current Affairs English lessons that would be helpful.

Q.Before we finish, would you like to leave our students with an inspiring message!

A. Confidence is the key! Even if you take just one single step every day toward your goal, you will achieve it!
