Nice to meet you, my name is “syuu.”

Hello, I have been working as a director for many years on TV dramas, movies, PR videos and other productions.
My work is all about valuing words.
My principal goal in teaching is to use “simple and understandable language.”

I currently live in China and have been teaching online at a Japanese language school in China for about 5 years.

I have taught more than 5,000 hours over the past 5 years.

The biggest frustration I have is that we must use a set textbook to teach. Since students study with many teachers using a single textbook, we always have to work with what they have learned from their previous teacher, page-to-page, which does not allow us to teach in a more a unique style.

Of course, grammar cannot be neglected, but since language is a living thing, what is necessary for further improvement is simply to practice speaking the language.

And if you are corrected, you should fix your mistakes right then and there, and just simply get used to speaking in the language.

About my Lessons.

Business conversation is all about honorifics. However, the honorifics that appear in the text are not always correct.

You might have a good relationship with some of your bosses, or you might have a bad relationship with some of them, or you might be meeting a new employee at another company for the first time, or you might be meeting a supervisor at another company you’ve met many times...
Relationships vary greatly, and so do the languages and expressions used.

Since you are not a native speaker, I think it is sufficient to try to speak in a polite manner and not be overly concerned with honorifics.

Interview Preparations.

I believe that most of you are much younger than I am, so I would like to help you learn what type of language is appropriate and not rude when speaking to someone older than you. Please use me as a training ground to practice speaking with elders such as at job interviews, with company bosses, etc. so that you won’t  be nervous when speaking in these situations.

Free-Talk (Casual Chat).

The purpose of this lesson is to increase your vocabulary, while learning various words and phrases through conversations on a specific theme.

Conveying emotions through words...

Simple pronouncing “ありがとう (thank you)” and “ごめんなさい (I’m sorry)” can be misinterpreted if not used with a specific tone. Such as, “thank you” without joy, “I’m sorry” with a smile...

As long as you can convey your emotions, people will understand you even if your grammar might be a little off.

Acting and Reading Screenplays.

This is also related to my Japanese lessons, but I have worked in the film industry for a long time, including TV dramas, movies, and other visual arts.

Dramas usually have a scenario, which contains dialogues for the actors to deliver.

What does it mean to play a role and how does it feel to say those lines?

Why not think about the roles?
Since I have extensive experience in the business world, I have naturally acquired necessarily honorifics and other expressions used on a daily basis in business.
There is not much point in learning honorifics as a business etiquette written by someone who has no experience working in a company. It is a given that all Japanese do not necessarily speak “correct” Japanese, and new employees are often scolded for “how they speak and their choice of words.”

I will never scold you in my lessons, but even native Japanese speakers learn honorifics by getting scolded, so don’t be afraid if you make a mistake.

Let’s practice speaking a lot.
This is a scene from one of my Japanese classes, I am always glad to talk with my students.
