Is your English already fluent but you want to sound more natural? Natural fluency in professional, academic and social settings is my teaching specialty.
My name is Dylan. I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and I'm currently living in Uppsala, Sweden (GMT+2). I have a bachelor's degree in philosophy and I am TEFL certified. I've been teaching fluent adults professionally for two years now, and it is something that I love doing and that I'm good at.
A lesson with me is a conversation. It's a conversation with many small interruptions from yours truly. And yes, they will sometimes seem annoying, or petty, even. Certain sounds need to be sharply pronounced as if you're attacking it and others need to be allowed a lazy tounge so they can melt away. Words like 'theme' and 'requisite' require precision and clarity while words like 'world' or 'literature' demand slack in the tongue and throat. And during our conversation, there will be many instances of unnatural pronunciation of such words that will be pointed out and improved upon.
Progress does not happen immediately, especially when we are talking about the fine-tuning stages. The only way to begin to improve your accent is to talk with native speakers ad infinitum.
Of course, accent is not the only focus in my lessons, but also vocabulary improvement. We will read challenging passages from topics of interest to you. My favorite subjects are philosophy, history and business. My ed authors who write on these topics in a convincing way build their themes using creative syntax that is immeasurably useful in improving more native-sounding fluency. They tend to possess a broad mental lexicon with the tendency of using an arcane word here and there. This will greatly improve your vocabulary and your sentence building.
I look forward to speaking with you and improving your English. Until then, have a good one!
