Hi there and thank you for visiting my profile. I am Ric, born and currently living in the Philippines. I prefer complimenting people to talking about myself, but I thought the following details might interest you: 
 
I am a TEFL certified ESL instructor who has taught Business English and English as a Second Language to mostly professionals, business owners, and some retirees since 2020. Prior to joining this industry, I worked in the Business Process Outsourcing Industry (call center industry) where I spoke with Americans and Australians for more than 12 years. 
 
I also shared a school building during the last two years of my elementary school with fellow students who had special needs, like my class, as I was accelerated. I have first hand experience interacting with students with different levels and even styles of comprehension.
 
Below is an excerpt from an article on how we humans learn:

Learning is a Social Activity

Human beings are by nature and culture a small group species. We have survived, despite our physical vulnerability, by working together and solving problems as a group. And it is through collaboration – not competition – that we learn best. In fact, competitive learning environments (my mark is higher than your mark) encourage surface-level thinking, increase dislike for school and decrease both creativity and subject interest. People learn best through interactions with others, and these interactions strengthen both community and individuals. Read more about learning through collaboration.

My teaching methodology is Thinking-Based Learning. This method develops thinking skills beyond memorization and, in doing so,  develops effective thinking on your part. During my class, you get to put ideas into context, analyze, relate, or argue. In short, convert information into knowledge.
 
The activities that we do during each session generally depends on what you will choose. These may include a listening or reading comprehension, or vocabulary exercise, grammar discussion followed by a short quiz, practice conversation, or free talk.

My teaching philosophy is not complicated. I like to think that I'm an empath and being able to help others feel good about themselves gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I have found that someone who has confidence is generally able to accomplish their goals. And learning is no different. I hope to see you in my class and I will talk to you soon!
