Hello, I’m Taka, M.! Thank you for visiting my profile page. I would like to thank all of you who have chosen to take lessons with me from among the many excellent Cafetalk tutors. It is my great pleasure to be able to help you improve your English skills through your journey. Here are some of the features of my lessons, as well as a self introduction.
◆◇◆My stance as a Cafetalk tutor
1. Student First
The most important thing for me is to give you what you want in your lessons. Everyone who comes to learn English here has different goals and levels of English learning, so I will do my best to meet each person’s needs as much as possible.
2. Learning together as a team
Depending on the type of lesson I am offering, I will focus on two-way communication in order to provide a participatory and fulfilling experience for my students.
3. Easy-going and relaxed
I aim to provide lessons that are natural and relaxed, without being too formal.
◆◇◆What I can help you with as an English tutor
1.Advice on how to study English effectively and problems that Japanese speakers tend to have when learning English
I myself started learning English later in my life, during my senior year in college, so I experienced many setbacks and embarrassing moments whilst learning English. I would like to share these experiences with you, and hope to be of assistance to you.
2.Teaching the use of English in different situations, such as formal and casual
I would like to reflect my personal experience of studying abroad twice (a year of language exchange in the UK after graduating from university, and most recently a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching at an Australian university) in my lessons on how to use English effectively in various situations. I would also like to teach students who are thinking of studying abroad how to use English for their studies.
3.Helping you brush up on your business English skills
I would like to help people who need English for work, based on my extensive experience and knowledge that I have gained from working in international exchange-related fields as a university administrator for many years. Incidentally, I have used English in such situations as negotiating agreements with people in charge at universities abroad, preparing presentations to attract international students, and providing daily support for international students coming to Japan, which has deepened my confidence in English.
4.Helping students pass the English proficiency test and improve their scores in the IELTS exam, etc.
I would like to help my students achieve their goals by devising lessons based on my own actual experiences from several English exams I have taken.
5.To offer lessons based on effective English teaching methods gained through practice and theory
I aim to create lessons that are highly satisfying for my students by combining the practical experience I have gained from tutoring, giving advice to university students on how to prepare for English interviews and writing study abroad applications, teaching English at staff training programs, and teaching English to classes of English learners while I was a graduate student in Australia, with the theory of English teaching that I learned in depth at graduate school.
◆◇◆Personal Interests
Interests: Fishing (Mainly fishing from the local bank. I like to fish black sea bream, lingcod, and other rock fish), karaoke (genres include Western music, J-pop, enka, and anything else. I’m pretty good at precision scoring), hot springs (mainly at local day trip hot spring facilities), and cooking (I cook a wide range of foods, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. I rarely look at recipes, but rely on my own senses, which may be a little questionable lol), mahjong (I play online these days), etc. I’m looking forward to talking with students about our common interests♪
