I got first place in the ranking for new tutors. (2023.9.29)
Thank you so much to all of my students.
Nice to meet you. My name is Tomo.
As a native Japanese speaker, I am rejoiced to hear that you want to learn Japanese. I would be more than glad to help you improve your Japanese, even for just a little bit.
I occasionally offer online stand by lessons.
On occasion, I may set up an irregular lesson time.
~About Myself~
I currently live in Yokohama.
Yokohama is a beautiful, vibrant and wonderful city.
This picture was taken from the Marine Rouge.
* The Marine Rouge is a sightseeing boat in Yokohama.
However, I was born in Kansai and lived in Kyoto when I was a university student. I used to speak in Kansai dialect, but now I can no longer speak it well. It seems that if you don’t use the language, you forget it....
I studied Japanese language education when I was a student and have also passed the Japanese Language Teaching Proficiency Test.
After graduating, I taught at a school in Tokyo, but now I work at legal office. I think that the work I have done outside of teaching Japanese has been very useful for teaching working adults.
When I was a student, I worked part-time to save money and often traveled abroad. I have been to Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, South Korea, China, Hawaii, and Palau. Since I have not been able to visit these days, I enjoy eating international cuisines to feel like I’m on a mini trip.
Inspired by my students, I have started learning English for the first time in a long time. It is frustrating when you struggle to express yourself, isn’t it. But I also feel great joy when I can express myself. So I understand how you feel.
My current hobbies are watching sports, playing tennis once a week, watching cat videos, and reading daily. I have always loved reading, and I typically read about 50 books a year. If you also enjoy Japanese novels, why not join me to talk about them?
My favorite authors include 中島京子 (Nakajima Kyoko), 角田光代 (Kakuta Mitsuyo), 桐野夏生 (Kirino Natsuo), 三浦しをん (Miura Shion), 辻村深月 (Tsujimura Mizuki), 寺地はるな (Terachi Haruna), 中脇初枝 (Nakawaki Hatsue), 芦沢央 (Ashizawa Yo), 朝井リョウ (Asai Ryo), 平野啓一郎 (Hirano Keiichiro), 東野圭吾 (Higashino Keigo) and more.
Of course, we can also talk about topics other than books. I love to chat with people. I offer several conversation-based lessons. You can choose the one that best suits your preference, from a short 15-minute lesson to a full 50-minute lesson. There is no need to be nervous in any of my lessons. Don’t be afraid to make lots of mistakes, and get better little by little. I look forward to meeting you!
