Hello and nice to meet you!
I am Fumiyo, a violinist living in Germany since 2003, who loves to eat and cook delicious food.
I’ve been teaching violin and cooking at Cafetalk since the summer of 2020.
If there is a lesson you are interested in, please come and join me!
【Violin】
After graduating from a music college in Germany, I have been working as a performer for many years in Germany, and I would be more than glad to share with my students the sensations and experiences I have gained here, which I did not have when I was in Japan. I usually perform in orchestras and chamber music throughout Germany, but I also teach at local music schools.
★I want to start playing the violin, but I don’t know where to start...
★I’ve bought an instrument, but I can’t find a teacher nearby.
★I usually take lessons with a teacher, but I want a more frequent checkup.
★I want to know how to get better at playing!
★I want to know how to practice more efficiently!
★I want to be able to play difficult parts that I haven’t been able to play!
★I want to improve my vibrato.
★I want to review my technique and become able to create a more beautiful sound!
★I want someone to check my violin skills for school!
★I need help with orchestral notation, how to use my hands/fingers, and other difficult parts of the violin!
★I used to play the violin, but I haven’t been playing it for a while, so I want to start playing again...
★Students who are thinking of entering music high school or music college.
etc, etc., anyone is welcome to join!
In order to improve your playing skills, you have to love your instrument and get to know it. It is important to face the instrument frequently and play with it, but just going through the songs is not enough to improve. In my lessons, I try to teach my students how to practice efficiently in a short period of time, because nowadays, children and of course, working adults have a busy schedule. Practice efficiently and feel the joy of being able to play what you couldn’t play before!
If you are so busy that you can only spare five minutes of your time, even those five minutes can be enough, so continue to practice every day!
(But for adults, if you are tired, don’t force yourself to practice and please make sure to take a break. You will be able to play better the next day if you take a break!)
I try to offer lessons that will help students grow and develop their strengths. I hope to be able to give advice to help you in any way I can. I’ve been a performer for about 20 years, so I can’t play for long periods of time in an uncomfortable position, and I’ve also experienced that as we age, our bodies change and the way we play changes from the way it was when we were younger. In my lessons, I try to determine what each student needs at the moment, and follow a curriculum that suits the student’s needs.
I can even accompany you to practice and read music together! You don’t have to pressure yourself into thinking that you have to master a song before you can play it in our lessons. If you show me what you find difficult to play in our lesson, I may be able to find a way to make it easier for you, and if you continue to play out of habit, you may end up wasting time and hurting yourself. If you can show me before that happens, I may be able to take a better approach. And you can take online lessons right from the comfort of your own home, so feel free to join my lessons!
【About My Online Lessons】
Until recently, I thought that online lessons were different from face-to-face lessons in that you couldn’t do many things when you’re online. But now that I’ve been offering online lessons, I’ve found that I can focus on what I want the students to see when I play and show them a model, and I can show it to them by pointing the camera.
In online lessons, I give feedback after the lesson by summarizing what we did in the lesson in writing and writing it on the student’s sheet music. Please feel free to use it to practice before your next lesson.
Currently, I am also enjoying duo (duet) with some of my students who have been taking lessons every week.
Let’s enjoy playing the violin together and get better at playing!

【Profile】
Started playing the violin at the age of four.
I joined a local boys and girls orchestra during my fifth year of elementary school, and in my sixth year of elementary school, I went on a performance trip to China, the first overseas trip in my family. I stopped playing the violin when I took the high school entrance exam because I thought that I did not have enough musical talent, but I went to attend a concert of a professional orchestra for the first time and decided to pursue music because I wanted to play in an orchestra in the future. Graduated from Tokyo College of Music. Obtained a first-class teaching license for junior high and high school teachers. Performed a concerto as a soloist at the Yokohama Minato Mirai Grand Hall with fellow members of the Jina Philharmonic Orchestra. After graduating from university, I spent two years in Japan performing and teaching at a music school, but decided to continue my studies and go on to study in Germany. While studying at the Dresden University of Music, I became a trainee in the orchestra of the Opera House and fell in love with opera, which I had never been interested in before. He made his debut as concertmaster for the first time in his life at the professional orchestra, the Giessen Municipal Opera Orchestra. I have been the first violin forerunner of the orchestra, the principal second violinist of the Bremerhaven Municipal Opera, and the guest concertmaster of the New Berlin Symphony Orchestra. I have studied under Akiyoshi Nezu, Kosaku Yamaoka, Ruriko Tsukahara, Kiyomitsu Obana, A. Baumann, and E. Triner. I am currently performing with orchestras and chamber orchestras throughout Germany, as well as teaching younger musicians.
【Cooking】
I am not a professional cook, but I still love to cook.
Many musicians are gourmets, and many of them can cook like professionals.
I guess it’s an occupational illness; we end up practicing, researching, and pursuing intensely. (Lol)
I have learned to cook pasta, mainly Italian pasta, and I once served some pasta to an Italian and was praised for it.
It took me about half a year to pass the basic tomato-based pasta course, Amatriciana, but once I mastered the basics, I was able to apply it to other dishes, and my menu increased with various arrangements. I could tell how much pasta was cooked by looking at it, and I began to have a sense of which pasta sauce went with which types of pasta.
Practice and experience will help you a lot in anything. A little effort goes a long way!
When you are cooking, you have to imagine the finished product and work towards it, while thinking about various things and building up the time (in the case of pasta, adjusting the boiling time and the time to make the sauce, etc.) It takes some time to grasp the important things and make them your own, but if you want to try your hand at authentic pasta, let’s cook together!
Some examples of authentic Italian dishes:
★ Tomato-based pasta (we don’t use ketchup!)
★ Cream-based pasta
★ Carbonara (authentic style that dosen’t use heavy cream!)
★ Minestrone
★ Lasagna
★ Tiramisu (authentic Italian original), etc.
I’ll show you how to make it as authentic as those of professional chefs.

I introduce the basics of cooking such as tomato sauce, genovese, and peperoncino.
If you’ve never cooked before, this is the course for you.
Even if you have never cooked before, why don’t you learn how to make Italian dishes that are easy to prepare without using commercial pasta sauces?
Even if you know how to cook, you can start learning from beginner level!
I don’t just give you recipes, but rather, I give you knowledge and skills so that you can continue to improve your cooking skills!
Students who have mastered the beginner’s course can learn tomato-based pasta in the intermediate course, and cream-based pasta, authentic carbonara, and tiramisu in the advanced course.
Learning professional skills are a little more difficult, but let’s have fun cooking together in our lessons!
◆In our cooking lessons, I would like you to show me the utensils you have, decide together on the menu we can make, and talk about the ingredients we need to prepare before the lesson, so
please make sure to take the “Cafe Time before Lesson” a few days before the actual cooking lesson. We’ll plan the lesson together then!
【For students who are new to cooking】
I’ve had a few inquiries about cooking lessons from students who have never cooked before, so I thought I’d help them out by offering a course called
“Homemade cake & Food” where we can learn to cook together, regardless of whether you’re cooking Italian dishes or not.
Let’s make something simple, yet healthy and delicious together!
First of all, please contact me for a free lesson called
“Cafe Time before Lesson”. Let’s think of a menu or snack we can cook together!
Please understand that there may be times when I will not be able to offer cooking lessons, depending on my eating habits and health condition. I do not want to waste ingredients, so I appreciate your understanding.
