Hello! I'm Phillip.
It's great to meet you. I hope you are having a fantastic day.
Tell me about yourself...
I am an English teacher and teacher trainer from a small town in the Australian outback.
I am a teacher's teacher. That means I teach English teachers how to teach and I help them improve their lessons.
In high school I went on exchange to Hokkaido for three months and fell in love with Japan.
At university I majored in both Education and Japanese Language and Culture. After graduation, I moved to Miyagi-ken for five years, teaching at a junior high school and two elementary schools.
After Japan, I moved to Indonesia to teach English students of all ages and provide consultation to English teachers.
What do you teach?
English Speaking: I have several years’ experience helping students learn fluent conversation and public speaking skills. While I was in Japan, I ran a conversation class (eikaiwa) for parents in my neighbourhood interested in practicing simple conversational English. I also trained a number of students for the National English Speech Competition and helped several students achieve first place in the prefectural contest.
English Tutoring: I have a lot of experience with 1-on-1 home tutoring, especially with high school and university students. I've helped a number of students improve their grades and boost their academic writing skills.
International English Exams: I have a wide range of experience tutoring students for a number of international English exams (TOEIC, TOEFL, EIKEN, IELTS, Cambridge). I helped student achieve the score they need to student overseas. My clients in the past have range from graduate students to Indonesian government officials.
What are your lessons like?
I offer English lessons to students of all levels. My specialty and focus are on speaking and writing.
I prefer to listen to what you want and doing my best to give you all the knowledge and skills you need to improve and grow.
Most importantly, I welcome all suggestions, and prefer to teach how the students need.
Thank you so much for reading my introduction. I hope that you will take one of my lessons.
I know that it will be a very enjoyable experience for you!
I look forward to meeting you online!
