Hello students on Cafetalk, my name is Richard, but my students in Japan used to call me "Rick-sensei". I taught English in Japan for 13 years, in Sendai, Iwate Prefecture, and my last five years I taught at a private foreign language university in Osaka Prefecture. I currently live in northern Thailand, where I taught English for 12 years at a major university. As you'll find out if you study with me, I simply love Japan, Japanese culture (especially Samurai and the Edo era), and the breathtaking nature. I'm sure that you will benefit from my 29 years of teaching English, four of which have been online lessons.

About my personality and teaching methodology: Online students have commented that I: 1) have a gentle personality and nice sense of humor 2) have the ability to clearly explain grammar and things they are not totally sure about 3) give them confidence in improvimg their English skills through praise and positive comments 4) give them ample time in lessons to express themselves and clear and helpful feedback.
