Henri Tutorenprofil
Hello. Henri is pronounced [ɑ̃ʁi]. But, I am an actual Japanese. Pleased to meet you.
I'm a former staff member of a member of the National Diet (policy secretary). Starting with budgets and accounting practices, I was involved with matters concerning education and culture policy, arraignment trials, police reform, nuclear energy policy and so on.
I studied law, the constitution and philosophy of law at Keio University, contruction design at the Osaka Institute of Technology and through online study with Yashimagakuen University I obtained my qualifications as a librarian.
Currently, I'm a director of an NPO and operate a private cram school and teach English and math.
I've come through setbacks and twists and turns, but now I feel joy that I was able to interact with many people (including children and foreigners) on their level.
Below I've written what it is I'd like to teach.
①Math examination lessons Ⅰ (level 5, 4, 3 = mainly junior high school students)
〇Compared to Eiken it is relatively minor, but the description exam is growing in importance and will become more desirable. I hope that out of some of the people I have taught, such as those who have passed the level 1 math exam or are researchers, take this. The Japan Business Federation desires those who have studied the humanities and math, as well as science and languages.
〇The method features using the same materials, with me explaining the parts you don't understand. → You keep asking me questions until you understand. I assist you with the exam, passing it and what comes after. We decide the number of lessons beforehand. In principal, 1 section of the reference book is 60 minutes.
We use Word, PowerPoint and so on.
〇 Of course both adults and junior high school students are welcome.
②Math examination lessons Ⅱ (Level 2, 1 = mainly high school students)
〇Compared to Eiken it is relatively minor, but the description exam is growing in importance and will become more desirable. I hope that out of some of the people I have taught, such as those who have passed the level 1 math exam or are researchers, take this. ③Special lessons for adults and students not attending school (English, math)
〇Based on my experience of running a cram school, we must not unfairly categorize all students as "truant". This is my opposition to the stance taken by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
〇There are issues like developmental or learning disabilities, difficulties adapting to society, and characteristics of adolescence like rebellion or distrust of others/adults.
〇Without attempting to immediately improve their grades, I listen to the child and investigate the things that they are interested in that might become points of motivation for them. In the case of truancy in spite of superior grades, I help them to improve to the extent that they can. I work as a contract teacher as well and have know-how in that field as well.
〇Therefore, after our first talk we decide upon the reference book and begin studies. We finally begin to scale the peaks of English and math.
〇Furthermore, I aim to assist adults desiring to resume their studies and those looking to acquire certifications or enter a high school or university. It would be a very favourable thing if students who had a difficult time during their student days listened to this lecture.
〇The number of lessons will be decided in a consultation.
④Librarian qualifications (in the capacity of assistance in university reports, etc.)
〇Necessary in the studies of a librarian is the understanding of the constitution. We study bearing in mind this point.
〇The method involves tactics and working out plans for reports and exams. Please let me know what reference book your professor recommends. "Results lead to success" is the road we follow. We do it as many times as the student desires. However, specialized subjects of a librarian are about 10 in number, so I think it won't be below that.
⑤Advanced level Japanese conversation
〇You may be able to speak Japanese fluently to a certain extent, but I think you cannot capture the correct nuances if you cannot speak about politics, the economy, culture and history to the level of sensitivity that a Japanese can.
〇Keeping that in mind, we use the newspaper or something else that the student likes, and study conversation while I give some explanations.
Above are the main practical precepts I convey in my instruction. I believe that is the mission behind the meaning of the word "sensei" (teacher), "the person who was born before us."
