Profilo di Fukumaru

Fukumaru is a university lecturer who offers lectures and thesis guidance on Japanese music history and Asian ethnomusicology.

I started teaching on Cafetalk because I wanted to encourage people to learn and love
traditional Japanese music more!

I aim to provide lessons to help people learn more about Japanese culture through music, so I offer courses about the history and characteristics of Japanese traditional music as well as casual conversation lessons in Japanese. My music lessons are also available in English.

I have so far taught students from Italy, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Paraguay, and Japan.

♪ About the tutor

I majored in piano at a national university and in musicology at a graduate school. Currently, I am researching the history of koto music and teaching Japanese music history and ethnomusicology part-time at a university in Tokyo.

Before I got married, I was all about music, but since having children, my world has expanded with my children’s interests.
In addition to music, I have been involved in ballet, sports, insects, and anime (Dragon Ball, Naruto, Pokemon, etc.). I also experienced various lessons with my children (ballet, piano, violin, swimming, gymnastics, abacus, cram school, online English conversation, and so on...).

♪ Message

It is common for Japanese students majoring in music to know very little about Japanese music, so there is nothing to be shy or hesitant about.

On Cafetalk, I would like to help you casually learn about Japan’s traditional music culture. I also look forward to chatting with you not only about music, but also child-rearing, career, and much more.

Whether it be music, Japanese, or consultation, please feel relaxed when taking my lessons. I am sure your world will expand.
