I am KUMI YOGA, aka yoga instructor KUMI.
When I was a university student, I experienced mental and physical distress, which led me to yoga, and I realized that yoga not only engages with your body, but it engages with your mind as well.
With a strong desire to share with others the experience of facing oneself’s feelings, being fulfilled, and feeling a sense of fulfillment through yoga, I became certified by the National Yoga Alliance in 2011 and became a yoga instructor at a yoga studio in my hometown of Kagoshima.
In 2013, I moved to India to become certified as a Sivananda Yoga instructor.
Sivananda Yoga is a type of yoga that focuses not only on yoga postures, but also on your breathing, meditation, and meals to achieve a comprehensive balance of your body and soul, which encourages you to be aware of your physical constitution and to become healthy from within.
In my yoga lessons, I like to focus on body maintenance as well as your mental health.
If you are aware of your body’s condition and move it in a well-balanced manner, hormones that increase joy will be secreted and your mind will naturally become fulfilled.
