I love teaching as a team. I see my lessons as a way to expand my students knowledge and interests in English. I'm open to new ideas and approaches to teaching and learning. We aren't in school so language should be engaging and fun!
A little about me, I'm from the US and love to travel through nature. So if it's camping or a hike I'm in! In my free time I sew, alot. Clothing for myself, dolls, and quilts. My university education is in Fine Arts/Crafts. Also I play video games, if i can build or create in it, I'll play.
My teaching experience:
ENGLISH TEACHER, SELF-EMPLOYED — 2016 - PRESENT
ENGLISH ART TEACHER, CREDA — 2024 - PRESENT
ENGLISH TUTOR, SKYENG — 2019–2021
ESL TEACHER, SIMPLY ENGLISH — 2022 - 2023
I have about 9 years of teaching experience and have gained this from all types of teaching jobs. I first started with adult English-speaking groups, for companies that needed English for work and those who wanted to practice for fun.
After, I slowly added children's groups and went into private tutoring. I kept doing private tutoring for many years, all online. I also combined this with a few online schools. Most recently, I focused a lot of my teaching with children. I taught in person at a few private schools and continued my private tutoring.
My lessons:
Sometimes lessons may follow a more standard format to work on difficult areas of language, but never standard drills or just plain memorization of information.
So if my students have a topic they want to understand better in English, I'll dive into it and we will work on that! I've taught some lessons on arts and crafts, sewing, law and soap operas.
My approach is nothing pushy, I work with my students to see how they want lessons to go. I encourage my students to work on all points of language, not just speaking. So some lessons can be grammar heavy, others we may focus on a light conversation because sometimes we just want to enjoy ourselves! Feedback is given and if it fits for the student homework is always available.
