I Don’t Have Gills But I Can Swim

每週主題: Sports that I am currently following

Do you know which is as important as power kicks and arm pulls in swimming? If you thought the same way as I did, yes, it’s breathing.  Ooops, don't get me wrong! I don't breathe under the water. I don't have gills. :D

“Bubbles” as we call it is one of the first things we learn in swimming programs. You literally create bubbles on the water surface as you release the air underneath it, thus the name.   This is a technique to develop skills in inhaling, breath-holding, exhaling and the timing to do them successively.  Breathing might be a bit tricky at first but once you get the hang of it your form will be much better, you can finish a 25- or 50-meter lap, and you will improve your stamina.  Bonus results are: you will enjoy your work out and you will burn fat.

I just love swimming. I used to handle swimming teams in schools where I worked for. I missed it so much I made a lesson here in Cafetalk – “Drills for Swimming Enthusiasts”.  I figured, I can start with just offering swimming drills for those who want variety and challenging routines for enthusiasts and athletes alike.

I’m getting older, so I will be obliged if I could at least share my experience with younger people and compare notes with them and help achieve their goals.

       Have fun swimming!
