Summer trip 2023

Tanya Forbes

Been there done that       versus       I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Been there done that this is a common phase meaning that I have achieved what I wanted to, and I’m satisfied that I have completed it but its not noteworthy to do it again. However, I'd do it in a heartbeat  means I would, whatever it is/was, do it  straight away without a moment’s thought!

As my students are aware I have taken a break and did a bit of travelling on my way to Japan. I started off in Iceland Reykjavik before flying to Toronto to meet friends on the east side of Canada. I then flew to Calgary, whereby I travelled  by road to Banff and Jasper on one of the most spectacular highways in the world, before taking the Train to Vancouver. From Vancouver I went up to Chilcotin in British Columbia where I did 5 days in the wilderness on a horse looking for wildlife. I then returned to Vancouver before flying to Japan.

One of my main inspirations for the trip was the movie Broke Back Mountain, apart from it being a remarkable story I was captivated by the scenery and wanted to experience it on a horse for myself.  There was, at no point at all in my journey the time that I could use the phrase been there done that, as the adventure was greater than my expectations, instead I would say I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

So, what now? My aim is to really enjoy life in Japan, while planning another trip to do more horse riding!
