My own experience of Read and Discuss lessons.

Tanya Forbes

Regularly, I take Japanese reading and discussion lessons. I usually use material from websites chosen by myself; these range from news to crochet, cooking and hiking websites—whatever I want to do. As I’m only an upper beginner, I obviously struggle to comprehend and recall all the vocabulary; however, I do find that I enjoy it. I may only understand a small part, but it’s these small parts that start to add up and create that 'aha' moment, that 'okay, I've got it now,' which I find occurs at a much later date when I’m reading some other material.

In some of the lessons, it’s all about the reading, pronunciation, just speaking the language and getting used to the feel of speaking in Japanese, coming across word patterns that I haven’t encountered before. In other lessons, we may not read the contents but just discuss the article in detail, trying to discuss from different points of view, attempting to form understandable opinions about the topic. This usually involves laughing a lot because my Japanese is normally very wrong, and my Japanese teacher needs to work out what I’m trying to say!

If you would like to have some fun reading, discussing, forming opinions, making mistakes and hopefully enjoying yourself please select a Read and Discuss lesson there is a coupon below for you to get started with.
