Expand your vocabulary and use of phrasal verbs with this lesson focussed on phrasal verbs that use 'turn'
Kursinhalt
This is a lesson for people who want to improve their knowledge and use of phrasal verbs. The focus is phrasal verbs that use "TURN."
We start with a warm up on prepositions and then look at how, when joined with the verb 'turn,' these prepositions (known as particles) become an expression called a phrasal verb.
An example from the lesson is the phrasal verb turn up. Easy, you say! Yes, turn up of course means to make louder, as in "Turn up the music please." However, this same phrasal verb has more than one meaning. If I said, "He turned up without an invitation," you might be a little confused on the meaning of the sentence. That's because phrasal verbs cannot sometimes be understood based on the literal meaning of their individual parts - you have to learn the phrase meanings. Notice also that the verb turn is conjugated (-ed ending); when we use them, we must pay attention to subject verb agreement.
Phrasal verbs are a challenge, but if you want to speak naturally like a native speaker, you must continue to increase your knowledge of them and learn to use them correctly. Don't worry, by the end of the lesson you will be making sentences with phrasal verbs with turn.
Thank you!
