Shina Tutor Interview
- Q. Hi Shina! Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. May we ask you to briefly introduce yourself?
-
A. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to interview me as well! I am delighted to have this opportunity. Nice to meet you! I am Shina, a yoga instructor living in Asahikawa city, Hokkaido. I have been working as a sports club instructor since graduating from high school. I currently offer online yoga lessons at Cafetalk, and yoga classes in Asahikawa city. I have been instructing for 9 years. I currently live with my partner and two dogs.
- Q. Please tell us more about your hometown and the area where you currently reside.
-
A. I was born and raised in Asahikawa city, Hokkaido. I usually teach yoga lessons every Wednesday in Asahikawa. As the city is surrounded by mountains, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery wherever you look when the weather is nice. Asahiyama Zoo, a famous sightseeing spot, has been a favourite of mine since I was a little child and I still go there frequently!
- Q. What motivated you to become a tutor on Cafetalk?
-
A. Before the pandemic, I used to offer yoga lessons at community centers, but after the pandemic, I stopped giving offline lessons and started focusing on online lessons for the first time through Cafetalk. After that, I had to take a year off from instructing yoga lessons due to an illness, but I have recovered and have now resumed offering yoga lessons from August last year.
- Q. What are you usually up to when you're not teaching on Cafetalk? What are your hobbies and interests?
-
A. I have always loved the rock band UVERworld since I was a middle schooler, and I listen to their songs every day, watch their live-performance DVDs during my free time, and even attend their concerts when I have the chance! Except for the winter months, we also have a kitchen garden which we tend to as part of our hobby. This year, I am planning on planting “Brussels sprouts” and “petit-puyo tomatoes” for the first time!
- Q. A lot of students are probably curious about the atmosphere in your lessons. What can a student imagine a lesson with you to be like? What’s your teaching style?
-
A. My yoga lessons are designed for beginners and focus on basic yoga poses that are comfortable and easier to follow for those who are new to yoga, or those who don't have a flexible body. I also provide easier versions of certain yoga poses for those who have difficulty following a particular pose, to insure that everyone can enjoy the lesson safely and comfortably. You can also take a break from difficult poses depending on your physical condition to practice yoga at your own pace!
- Q. Which lessons would you recommend to your students?
-
A. I can offer lessons for pelvic adjustments, relieving stiffness in your shoulders, relieving back pain and more, depending on your current physical health issues. I will do my best to help you tone your body and mind. My most popular lesson is my pelvic adjustment yoga course which I call “Pelvic Slimming Yoga,” which can help with problems such as hunched back and arched hips, and adjusts the pelvis to the correct position to create a beautiful posture.
- Q. Finally, would you like to leave a message for your current and future students?
-
A. To all my students attending my lessons,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your support! I am truly grateful to have met you all through yoga, and to be able to practice it together with you during your valuable time. I find the time we spend practicing yoga together truly enjoyable, and I am always delighted to be able to offer lessons to you. I look forward to continue practicing yoga with you!
To prospective students,
Yoga is popularly regarded as a health practice similar to other sports, but it can also take care of your mind and manage the stress from your daily life! The aim of yoga is to create a relaxed state of mind, so there is no need to follow the poses perfectly. So, even those of you who do not have a flexible body and beginners can enjoy practicing yoga! Everyone is welcome, regardless of your age and gender, so please feel free to join me for a lesson.♪ I want to share the charm of yoga with as many people as possible, and hope that everyone’s mind and body will be filled with joy!
