Hello! I'm Joy from Singapore, now living in Tokyo. I am a certified English (DELTA) and Chinese (CTCSOL) teacher with 5 years of teaching experience. Most of my experience is related to teaching exam preparation, mainly Cambridge O Levels in Singapore. I believe in the power of good exam results, because they can change our lives. 3 years ago, I used to teach on CafeTalk, but I had to stop because my main teaching job got too busy. This year, I'm preparing to move to Japan, so I quit my job and now I have time to be teaching here again! I've taught people from Europe, Singapore, China and Japan. I’m learning Japanese now so I fully understand the struggles of learning a new language.
三年前，我在CafeTalk上教过一段时间，但因为教学工作太忙，只好暂停。后来因为移居日本，就辞掉了之前的教师工作，又回CafeTalk来了。我教过欧洲人，新加坡人，中国人和日本人，现在主要教雅思和汉语。我正在学日语，所以我完全能理解学语言的难处。
My parents immigrated from China to Singapore when I was 2, so I grew up using both English and Chinese everyday. Singapore uses British English as the official language and I've worked for an American company, so I am familiar with both American and British English. I speak both standard Chinese (putonghua), which is the accent commonly spoken in China, and the Southern accent, which is common in Southeast Asia and South China. I can also use simple Japanese to explain during lessons.
两岁时我的父母从中国移民到新加坡，我从小每天都接触英语和汉语。新加坡通用英式英语，但我以前在一家美国公司工作，所以熟悉美式和英式英语。我能说普通话，也能用南方口音。上课时，我也可以用简单的日语解释。
