I believe the more you expand your vocabulary,the more you can communicate with people. Vocabulary for everyday life, for exams, for your job, for hobbies... Let's increase your vocabulary throuth talking about something you are interested in!
I started teaching Japanese when I was in my 30s at a local Japanese class as a volunteer staff, and afterwards I've been engaged in teaching for nearly 30 years in Japan and China. So you can study Japanese using English or Chinese if you are biginners.
