About Me
I am 24 years old and I'm from Botswana and I am currently an English tutor online. I have a Bachelors degree in Food Science and Technology that I obtained at Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. I am a TEFL certified teacher with over 2 years experience teaching English online with emphasis on conversational English, job interview preparation and business English. English is my first language and Setswana is my second. Apart from being a teacher, I am a Food Scientist by profession and also a florist and food blogger, some of my hobbies include cooking, golfing,meeting new people, travelling to explore various cultures, traditions, cuisines and clothing and most importantly the wildlife. I also love music specifically EDM, pop, RnB and anything else that moves my hips and soul and horror and romantic type movies.
About me as teacher
I like to call myself a friend rather than a teacher, this is because I would my students to enjoy lessons as if they are talking to a very close friend. I am a very patient person, a good listener, a good motivater as well, and also a problem fixer, be rest-assured that I will help my students wherever they may need my help.
About my country
Botswana is a landlocked country in a continent called Africa and is best known for its wildlife and rooted culture. Animals found in our country include lions and elephants.Botswana also mines the most beautiful diamonds and sells them to other countries.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student oriented and repetitive. My lessons are based mainly on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and most importantly the do's and don'ts in the written and spoken English. My students are expected to draft goals they would like to achieve from my lessons and I will draft strategies that work best for my student. At the end of each lesson we evaluate if the goals have been met or not, in a case where they are not meant I usually try to change my teaching methodology to suit the student. During our lessons I expect students to write short notes and ask questions wherever they do not understand, as this may help us to engage better.
Teaching materials
I use a lot of teaching materials in my lessons depending on what the student prefers.Some of the materials include PDF files, presentation slides/PPT, image and video files, homework's and quizzes, test templates and examples as well as articles, graphs and charts. I use all these during my lessons so as to ensure my students understand me better, I believe experiences and pictures are easier to remember than plain black and white notes.
