Hello! My name is Ilona and I am from London in England. I studied Japanese at university, and have a passion for learning languages. During this time I realised that I also wanted to help others learn my native language, English, and decided to study for a TEFL English teaching certificate.
I took part in several English teaching events on my year abroad in Kobe in 2020, and since graduating, have taught both children and adult learners online. I have taught my adult students via Skype, structuring lessons to help them become more confident in their English conversational skills. My younger students have sometimes had no prior knowledge of English at all, and it has been very rewarding to see their excitement at learning a completely new language.
Although my lessons are very structured, they are very fun and relaxed! Although I will correct any mistakes you make, I believe that fluency is most important when learning a new language, so want to focus primarily on you becoming more confident in English.
I teach lessons primarily in English, but I can also speak Japanese, so if there is every anything you don't understand I can also explain in Japanese if you need me to. Please don't hesistate to ask for my help.
I offer general lessons as well as more personalised ones aimed at helping you accomplish your own personal goals and needs. If you want to take a personalised lesson with me, please book a 15 minute trial lesson first. In the free trial lesson I will assess your level and we will talk about what you want to accomplish through our future lessons.
