Aida Perfil del(de la) tutor/a
Aida Makes: Celebrating Palestinian Culture Through Food
Born in Gaza, Palestine, Aida’s love for cooking was inspired by her grandmother. Now living in Japan since 2006, she initially started as an English teacher and currently also teaches English lessons at ZUWA. Her background is in childhood psychology and early childhood education. In 2014, she founded her at-home business, Aida Makes—A-I-D-A Makes, M-A-K-E-S. What began with cooking classes has grown into catering Palestinian food for events and takeout.
Through her cooking, Aida aims to keep her culture alive, sharing the rich heritage of Palestinian dishes like Matluba and Man’eesh. Her goal is to ensure that even a single plate of hummus can carry the story and resilience of Palestine.
Despite the challenges of finding the right ingredients in Japan, Aida has adapted, reflecting the resourcefulness of Palestinian cooking. Beyond the kitchen, she enjoys exploring new experiences and Asian cuisines. As a mother of two children, born in Tokyo, she continues to connect with people through her food, reminding them that the spirit of Palestine lives on.

Aida Makes: パレスチナ文化を料理で伝える
ガザ、パレスチナで生まれたアイダは、祖母の料理に触発されて料理を始めました。2006年に日本に移住し、英語教師としてキャリアをスタートさせ、現在はZUWAで英語のレッスンも行っています。彼女の専門は児童心理学と幼児教育です。2014年に自宅ビジネス「Aida Makes—エーアイディーエー メイクス」を設立し、料理教室から始まり、現在ではパレスチナ料理のケータリングやテイクアウトを手掛けています。
アイダは、料理を通じて自国の文化を生き続けさせたいと願い、マトルーバやマナキッシュなどの伝統的なパレスチナ料理を紹介しています。彼女の目標は、一皿のフムスを通してでも、パレスチナの物語と不屈の精神を伝えることです。
日本で必要な食材を見つけるのに苦労しましたが、アイダは工夫しながら適応し、パレスチナ料理の持つ創意工夫を反映させています。キッチンの外では、新しい経験やアジア料理を探求することを楽しんでいます。東京で生まれた二人の子供を持つ母親として、彼女は料理を通じて人々と繋がり続け、パレスチナの精神が生き続けていることを伝えています。
