Hello. I'm Ayano Shigematsu, your violin tutor!
I graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in March of this year.
When I was a junior high school student, I was fascinated by the beautiful world behind the music that my teachers showed me through violin lessons, and I was saved.
I hope that my lessons will not only help you master the violin, but also give you a chance to experience the beauty of music.
Why don't you join me and look into the beautiful world through violin and music?
In my lessons, I do not teach in terms of "strong" or "weak," but rather from the perspective of what kind of music is to be achieved.
For example, the goal of "forte" is not to be "strong," but the same forte can have various expressions such as "energy bubbling up," "clearing sky" "earth rumbling," or "drowning and suffering”.
Let’s give voice to the wonderful world we find through music!
From children who are starting violin lessons for the first time, to students who want to learn more about violin, adults, and composers, lessons and consultations are all welcome.
*****
I specialize in music from a wide range of periods, from baroque to contemporary music.
I won the Special Prize for Contemporary Music at the 8th Louis Spohr International Music Competition (Germany). I have also won top prizes at competitions in Japan and abroad, including first prize at the Yokohama International Music Competition.
I believe there is a depth to "music" that I can share with you because I am a musician who not only performs, but also plans and manages performances and commissions new music, including the "Dream and Utsutsu - Concert in the Light," a collaborative concert with light installation.
I have also already studied abroad as an undergraduate (Slovenia, one year), and can provide guidance based on my experience to students who are considering a career in music, including future study abroad, as well as children and adults who are interested in Europe.
I also specialize in special techniques for contemporary music, and welcome guidance and consultation for those who wish to compose. I have given many premieres of new works and commissioned works, so I can be of great help.
I also received the Acanthus Music Prize upon graduation for my performance of a work by the contemporary German composer Jörg Wittmann.
I specialize not only in contemporary music but also in Baroque music, and I can teach interpretation and playing techniques based on the perspective of the Baroque period. Today, there are many different ways of playing Bach and other music based on various interpretations, but I can help you to develop a performance based on the way the instruments of the time were played.
I am a graduate of the Triton Arts Network Outreach Seminar 2020 and a recipient of the 2008 Aoyama Music Foundation Scholarship.
After attending the High School of Music attached to the Faculty of Music of Tokyo University of the Arts, I graduated from the Violin Department of the Faculty of Music of Tokyo University of the Arts. Upon graduation, I received the Acanthus Music Prize and the Doshokai Prize.
In October, I will enter the master's program at the Freiburg University of Music.
