Hi there! My name is Reinaldo, and it would be awesome to get to know each other.
To speak a bit on myself, I was born in a small city of Venezuela, and had the opportunity of living in the US in different stages of my life as I was growing up. I´ve been teaching English since 2007 and have enjoyed every step of it. Currently I´m living in Santiago, Chile.
Throughout my experience I have had the chance to teach students from a vast variety of background and I have to admit I´ve learned a lot from them. I have had students who are looking to increase their general level for many reasons, such as travel and general knowledge. At the same time many of my students have been business oriented which can make classes a bit more intense with debates, presentations, interview preparation, etc. Yet another segment of my students have been looking forward to migrating having to prepare a standardized test like to TOEFL-iBT, IELTS, or the SAT. With all of them I have had a lot of fun pushing together to achieve the goal!
From my view, the best way to learn is to take things step by step and being proactive. Working in class definitely helps, however, I have seen great results with those of my students who make the extra effort to work outside of class, even for a few additional minutes week.
I am a believer that grammar is important, yet it only takes you so far. Real life discussions, information analysis, writing, debating, and constant exposure to new vocabulary and ideas is the way to improve, not just in English. I enjoy discussing everyday activities with students giving them the opportunity to express their views and challenge them to become better speakers.
There is a point where English isn’t the objective anymore, but the path. Join me on a lesson and lets better ourselves
