My teaching style

As a teacher, my focus is on creating a fun and relaxed learning environment where students can improve their language skills at their own pace. I believe that the right atmosphere is crucial for motivation and faster improvement, so my approach to language learning is centered around normal conversations that vary in difficulty. During these conversations, I will pay attention to specific grammar points based on the CEFR levels (A1-C2) and correct speech as needed. If severe language errors are detected, we will focus on those specific errors with example sentences, learning games, song lyrics, or speech adventures. Grammar sheets are only used as post-lesson material for the student to review what we went through. With that in mind, I am also able to tailor the lessons to meet the unique needs and goals of my students.

This conversation-based approach is particularly well-suited for younger learners who may struggle to stay motivated, but I also have adult students who prefer this approach over traditional grammar study. If you wish, I am also happy to provide non-mandatory homework and support you to the best of my abilities. However, please keep in mind that one lesson a week is not enough exposure to improve your language skills, so it is important to also revise and study on your own time.

It's important to note that for all my lessons, you should have at least a basic knowledge of English or German because my Japanese is not yet good enough to explain everything. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

About me

As a highly communicative and open-minded individual, I bring a wealth of travel experience to the table. Having spent much of 2015-2017 traveling and working in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, I have gained a deep understanding of the ins and outs of budget travel and the best ways to navigate unfamiliar places, make friends, and avoid common pitfalls. My extensive travels have also given me a unique perspective on different cultures and ways of life, making me well-suited to teaching English and Geography to students aged 10-19.

Japan holds a special place in my heart and I am thrilled to have returned to this beautiful country in 2022. I hold a teaching degree in English and Geography from Austria and in my free time, I enjoy exploring new places, playing guitar, engaging in outdoor activities such as volleyball and bouldering. Additionally, I am an active member of the executive committee of "Generation Grundeinkommen", an NGO that facilitates public discussion about universal basic income.

Books I use

For German I use the series "Schritte International" and other material.
For English I use the series "More!" and other material.
For guitar I use my own material and online material.
You don't need to own any of the books to take my lessons!

Countries I have been to (sorted by duration of stay):

Austria, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Luxembourg, South Korea, Bolivia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Israel, Palestine, Croatia, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland, England, Hungary, Ireland, Turkey, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy, Singapore, France
