Hello and thank you for visiting my profile, my name is Thomas!
ABOUT METhough I was born in France, I have been living in Mozambique, Africa, for the past three years. Here,
I teach scuba diving and first aid in both English and French and started teaching English online at the end of 2019. I hold a
TEFL certification and have already taught English and French to a few hundred students on different platforms!
I am passionate about the ocean and the wonderful life in it. My free time is a mix of leisure and education, learning through books, articles, and online courses, walking my dog, playing with my cats, and spending time with friends. I am also a certified skydiver and love to try new activities!
BACKGROUNDLuckily for me, languages have always been one of my strong points, which is something I have used during my travels around the world. I have visited over 40 countries, have
lived and worked on 4 continents, and met thousands of people in the process.
I hold a
Masters degree in Intercultural Management and International Business, which allowed me to work for tiny start-ups and massive global companies alike, before deciding to look for opportunities that would allow me to combine my passion for the ocean and my different skillsets.
Though I now live a relaxed life by the beach, my first professional experiences were in customer service, communication, and management. I, therefore, have a valuable understanding of the business world and its structure and would love to share it with you.
HOW I TEACH
Curious and friendly by nature,
it is important for me to get to know my students. I believe that a clear understanding of your goals and expectations are vital pieces of information for me to deliver a lesson that really suits your needs. Therefore,
our first lesson will generally be spent introducing one another, discussing your goals, and agreeing on the material and my teaching style.
I am also a generally enthusiastic person and believe that life is meant to be experienced with a smile on your face. I often laugh and want to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment for you to enjoy the process of learning.
I expect you to participate a lot and make mistakes, which is a vital part of learning anything. If you are looking for a more traditional style of teaching where the teacher does most of the talking, please reconsider requesting a lesson with me, as neither of us will really enjoy it.
The material we'll use is flexible. I for one love movies and TV shows and believe they offer invaluable insight into language learning. We can also use news articles, blog posts, or any other relevant source of information online. Do not hesitate to ask for specific material if you would like me to create a lesson around it!
