Hello everyone,
I thought you might enjoy some photos of my grandma Elaine. She was a teacher when she was young, and she raised three children (my father was her middle child). She turned 95 years old this week, and she’s still remarkably healthy and quick-witted. Actually, when our family plays card games, Grandma Elaine usually wins! She’s an inspiration to all of us.
Do any of you have inspirational grandparents or relatives?
Thank you, and see you soon!

Yes, Sakochan, I feel the same. I try to maintain a healthy diet, but. . . I don't go overboard with it. :) However, perhaps if my grandma had been eating a perfect diet all these years, she would be running marathons now! :) :)

Thank you for the explanation, Eby sensei! And I feel kind of relieved to hear that your grandmother is so healthy NOT because of her diet. Since I don’t like cooking but there are lots of information about healthy diet in the world, so sometimes I feel stressed thinking I have to do the RIGHT THING. I don’t really know what is the RIGHT THING, though. So whenever I hear about the healthy people without so-called HEALTHY diet, I feel relieved. :)

Thank you for the correction, Rhys sensei! And I guess you would probably use “…, eh?” there in Canada, wouldn’t you?

Hi Sakochan, thank you for the birthday wishes for my grandma! Yes, you're right-- she's the grandma I told you about, and she was still driving until my uncle moved back to Michigan from Georgia (now, fortunately, he can drive her around :). Yes, she's still very healthy, but I'm sure it's not due to her diet. . . she has always cooked basic American-style food (meat, bread, canned fruit, frozen vegetables, etc.). . . so, I think she just has natural vitality! :) Regarding your question about "musn't she," we tend not to use "musn't" in tag questions in the U.S. (that's probably why the sentence felt awkward/unnatural for you; good instincts!). For a more natural sentence, I would say, "She must be the one that you talked about in the lesson before, right?" or "She's the one that you talked about in the lesson before, isn't she?" In casual conversation or casual communication like this, the suggestion Rhys made would also sound natural in the U.S. :) Thank you again, Sakochan! :)

Hi Eby sensei, She must be the one that you talked about in the lesson before, musn't she? (Do you say, "..., musn't she?", by the way?) And she had been driving until your uncle moved to her house recently, hadn't she? Wow! She looks sooo healthy! Happy birthday to her!
