Who is your superhero? スーパーヒーローって。。。

Weekly Topic: Who is your Superhero?

Kind of personal story....

When I was little, my dad went on business trips often. Sometimes for a month at a time. He went all over the US, Asia, Europe. One time, he went to Japan when I was six. He brought back a VCD of Sailor Moon. I was in LOVE! It was the first time I had seen a main character who was a super hero, a girl, strong and weak, who loved her friends, and had trouble at school sometimes, but always tried her best. It was amazing!

It was soo cool! I was even Sailor Moon for Halloween when I was 8 :) I worked very hard to make my costume perfect, but no one else knew what characters I was.

In the US version, the story is a little different. The characters have different names and the songs and OST are new. But the transformations were magical and I was always so excited by each new episode, the colors, the characters, and the Japanese food that were shown.

I really looked up to these girls who saved the day (sometimes Tuxedo Mask helped :) )

But they also fought with their parents, had exams to study for, didn't want to clean the house, worried about their boyfriends.

They were normal people that did extraordinary things. They were role models for young girls who didn't have anyone to look up to. It was inspiring!

This show is so nostalgic for me and I still love it!

Hi Tamasa! I completely agree :) The show was very popular in America when I was growing up, and so popular that they even did a remake recently. Hopefully young girls now will have a great role model and enjoy the show as much as we did! My sister and I would play Sailor Moon too and recite the magic words! We always fought over who got to be who. I'm glad I met another fan of this hero for girls!
