Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know

Lyston G.

Dear, Readers

I hope you are all doing well.

It has been raining non-stop for seven days in Thailand.

Some areas, like Nakhon Si Thammarat, a city in the south, and close to where I live, experienced its worst flooding in fifty years.

I live in Hat Yai, another city in the south, also had floods but on a smaller scale.

I hope the weather is bearable where you are.

Now, back to the column. Today, I am going to reveal a fun fact about one of the most popular items on the planet.

I am referring to "Cotton Candy."

When I was young I used to ask my parents to buy it because it fascinated me.

Did you know that;

Cotton candy was invented by a couple of dentists.

Dentist William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton inventedchine-spun cotton candy in 1897.

It made its first appearance at the 1904 World's Fair and was known as "Fairy Floss."

Then, another dentist, Josef Lascaux, reinvented the machine in 1921.

He came up with the name "Cotton Candy," which replaced "Fairy Floss."

Cotton candy is loved by many children in Thailand. You can easily buy it at some local markets, and it comes in many different flavors.

Is cotton candy popular in your country?

In Zimbabwe, it is not called “Cotton Candy.” It is called “Candy Floss.” I have no idea how this came about.

I hope you enjoyed this little fun fact. Next time you try cotton candy, remember, it is all thanks to two innovative dentists.

I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

Have a weekend to remember.
