UK / British Snacks - Sweets and Chocolate

Weekly Topic: My favorite sweets/snacks/candies in childhood

Feb 15, 2021

My favourite snack from my childhood, which I still like now, is a called a Crunchie. This is a chocolate bar by the company Dairy Milk. It is very popular chocolate brand. There are only two very popular chocolate brands in the UK, this is one and the other is Galaxy which is creamier. Usually people prefer one or the other.

Anyway, a Crunchie is honeycomb / cinder toffee covered in chocolate. It is similar to dalgona in Korea. It’s sugar and bicarbonate of soda, so it expands and becomes crunchy.

I don’t like sweets (UK) candy (US) as much as chocolate. But, ‘retro sweets’ and ‘pick n mix’ which I ate when I was a child, have become popular recently. Swizzles is a UK only sweets brand. For Christmas I received a box of these retro sweets… but I still haven’t finished them.
