日本[にほん]には四季[しき]があります。それぞれの季節[きせつ]で雲[くも]の形[かたち]も変[か]わります。いくつかの雲[くも]は一般的[いっぱんてき]な名前[なまえ]を持[も]っています。
「いわし雲[ぐも]」と呼[よ]ばれる雲[くも]は秋[あき]によく見[み]られます。名前[なまえ]の由来[ゆらい]はいくつか説[せつ]があるようです。その中[なか]の一[ひと]つに雲[くも]の形[かたち]が魚[さかな]のいわしの群[む]れみたいだからというのがあります。私[わたし]にはその説[せつ]がしっくりきます。
ちょっと話[はなし]がそれますが、秋[あき]の魚[さかな]と言[い]えばさんまがとても有名[ゆうめい]です。さんまも群[む]れを作[つく]るそうです。なので秋[あき]の「いわし雲[ぐも]」を見[み]る度[たび]、私[わたし]はさんまが食[た]べたくなります。秋[あき]のさんまは本当[ほんとう]においしいです。
雲[くも]の話[はなし]をするつもりが、秋[あき]の味覚[みかく]の話[はなし]になってしましました。今更[いまさら]ですが、私[わたし]の場合[ばあい]テーマを「食欲[しょくよく]の秋[あき]」にした方[ほう]がよかったと思[おも]いました。日本[にほん]の秋[あき]は、きれいな雲[くも]とおいしい旬[しゅん]の食べ物[たべもの]が同時[どうじ]に楽[たの]しめる季節[きせつ]です。

We have four distinct seasons in Japan. In each of them, the shapes of clouds change generally. Some of the clouds commonly have names that describe their looks.
The clouds called Iwashi gumo can be seen by us in the autumn sky in Japan. I've heard that there are some explanations about the origin of the name. One of the explanations is that the shape of the clouds looks like a school of sardines. The explanation sounds quite right to me.
I'm digressing, but when it comes to fish in autumn, Pacific saury is very popular. I have read that Pacific sauries form schools too. So I feel like eating grilled Pacific saury whenever I see the clouds "Iwashi gumo". It really tastes good in autumn.
I just noticed I had ended up writing about the seasonal food in autumn though I would have written about the clouds in autumn. I think it is too late to say this, but I should have chosen a theme like "the seasonal food in autumn causes us a lot of appetites" for me. In Autumn in Japan, we can enjoy beautiful clouds and good seasonal food at the same time.
