Hello, everyone. How are you today? It's Teacher Asuka.

Today, I'm going to talk about my latest summer memory, that is, a trip to Kyoto.

It was so hot and humid just before 'Obon,' which is the time of year when the souls of ancestors come back to visit.
On August 16, the end of  'Obon holiday', the famous event 'Okuribi', or 'Daimonji ceremonial bonfire event' is held in Kyoto every summer.

Well, on my first day, I went to 'Rurikoin-temple'. The place where I long to visit for a long time is located northern part of Kyoto. You can go there by Kyoto municipal subway first and change at Kokusaikaikan station to take a number 19 bus to 'Yase', the nearest bus stop for destination. 'Yase' is at a foot of Mt. Hiei. It takes around 1 hour from JR Kyoto station. I think this is the fastest way to get there.

You can go there by train from Kyoto city center, but you need to change at Demachiyanagi, Keihan Railway station and  take Eizan-Dentetsu, Railway to get to Yase station.

Rurikoin-temple is famous for its magnificent view of Japanese garden. It is known as villa as well. This temple is not generally opened, however, it is opened to the public only twice a year, in late spring,  summer or autumn.

It is precious for visitors to see Japanese green maple leaves in summer as well as red or yellow colored leaves in fall. You can find large desks for copying a sutra being reflected in the view.

You can do 'shakyo, a copy of sutra' with such a nice view if interested. You can also enjoy seeing moss carpet with beautiful 'lapis lazuli blue' called 'Ruri-iro' in Japanese if you are lucky.

Why don't you come and visit this temple for laundering your own life?

Seeing such marvelous view will bring us to feel comfortable and relaxed, definitely.

Thank you for joining me as usual.

See you next time!
