How do you survive the heat?

Weekly Topic: How do you survive the heat?

Nadine Flores

In my city of Mississauga just west of Toronto, we can experience both weather extremes. It gets very cold in the winter and also very hot in the summer. We even have extreme hot weather alerts on some days. During these days, we keep cool by keeping the air conditioning on. Unlike in Japan, most houses have a centralized cooling system so we have to make sure all doors and windors are shut.

We also love going to the beach. We are very close to Lake Ontario where some parts have beaches. While at the beach, we cool off in the water and drink something cold while having BBQ.

If we're not at the beach, we love eating fruits like watermelon, eating ice cream or some iced drinks. Of course we have to drink plenty of water. These are just some ways we survive the heat. :)
