華語名詞的不可數性質與量詞

作為華語母語者的我們可能很難意識到，所有的華語名詞都可以說是不可數的集合體。

在英語中，名詞分為可數名詞與不可數名詞，使用上的差異是：可數名詞的前面可以直接加上代表數量的”a”，但不可數名詞則不行，如：

A pen （一枝筆）

但不可數名詞，如紙”Paper”則必須在”a”跟”paper”的中間加上量詞的”piece”，並再加上”of”作為修飾的介詞，表達從屬。

A piece of paper（ 一張紙）

從上面的例子，如果套用一樣的原則在華語上，我們會發現所有的華語名詞都是不可數，因為當我們要講任何一個名詞，都必定有一個相應的「量詞」，如同上述的例子”piece”，如：

一「個」人；一「台」車；一「匹」馬；一「則」新聞

即

（數量）（量詞）（名詞）

這樣的一個定式。而華語中的量詞區分非常細，所有的名詞都可以找到一個對應的量詞，這樣的性質，除了顯示了一種語言學上的特殊性以外，我覺得也反應了華語文化的傳統世界觀，因為這些量詞或漢字本身，都充滿了提供視覺想像的元素，而非單純的拼音發音。

與華語相近的日語也有量詞，但日語的量詞相對簡略，且原本日語中就有包含數量的表示法（ひふみ〜とお，日語數量表示相當複雜，本文不贅述）。因此，對日語母語的華語學習者來說，華語的量詞仍是相對困難的，更不用提若是印歐語系母語者的華語學習者會感到多困擾了。

我的建議是不彷試著用圖片幫助記憶，因為華語母語者看到不同量詞的時候，往往腦海中已經有名詞的畫面了，如：

一朵（    ）

我想99.9%的台灣人都會在括號裡面寫「花」。

英語では、名詞は可算名詞と不可算名詞に分けられ、その使用上の違いは、可算名詞の前には数を示す「a」を直接付けることができるが、不可算名詞はそうはいきません。例えば：

つまり

（数量）（量詞）（名詞）

という定式があります。中国語の量詞は非常に細かく区分されており、すべての名詞に対応する量詞が見つかります。この特性は、言語学的な特殊性を示すだけでなく、量詞や漢字自体が視覚的なイメージを提供する要素を含んでいるため、中国語文化の伝統的な世界観も反映していると思います。

中国語に近い日本語にも量詞がありますが、日本語の量詞は比較的簡略で、元々日本語には数の表現が含まれています（ひふみ〜とお、日本語の数量表現は非常に複雑で、この記事では詳述しません）。したがって、日本語を母国語とする中国語学習者にとって、中国語の量詞は依然として難しいものです。印欧語族の母国語を持つ中国語学習者にとってはさらに困難でしょう。

私の提案は、画像を使用して記憶を助けることです。なぜなら、中国語を母国語とする人々が異なる量詞を見ると、すでにその名詞のイメージが頭に浮かぶからです。例えば：

一朵（ ）

99.9％の台湾人がカッコ内に「花」と書くでしょう。

The Uncountable Nature of Chinese Nouns and Measures

As native speakers of Chinese, we may not readily realise that all our Chinese nouns can be considered uncountable collections.

In English, nouns are divided into countable and uncountable nouns, with the difference in use being that countable nouns can have the quantity-indicating "a" directly added in front, but uncountable nouns cannot. For example:

A pen

However, for uncountable nouns like "paper," a measure "piece" must be added between "a" and "paper," along with the preposition "of" to express subordination.

A piece of paper

If we apply the same principle to Chinese, we find that all Chinese nouns are uncountable because we always need a corresponding measure, like "piece" in the example above, such as:

一「個 'ge' 」人(person)、一「台'tai'」車(car)、一「匹 'pi'」馬(horse)、一「則 'ze' 」新聞（new）

That is,

(Quantity) (measure) (Noun)

This formula is standard in Chinese. The distinction of measures in Chinese is very fine, and every noun can find a corresponding measure, which, apart from showing a linguistic peculiarity, I believe also reflects the traditional worldview of Chinese culture because these measures, or the characters themselves, are filled with elements that provide visual imagination, not just phonetic sound.

Japanese, similar to Chinese, also has measures. Still, Japanese measures are relatively simple, and Japanese inherently includes methods of expressing quantities (ひふみ〜とお, Japanese quantification is quite complex and will not be elaborated here). Therefore, for Japanese native speakers learning Chinese, Chinese measures remain relatively difficult, not to mention for learners of Chinese whose native languages are Indo-European.

My suggestion is to try using images to aid memory because when Chinese native speakers see different measures, they often already have an image of the noun in their minds, such as:

一朵'duo' （   ）

I think 99.9% of Taiwanese would write '花(flower)' in the bracket.
