A crumble (A British autumnal pudding)

Weekly Topic: Recommended autumn recipes: from pumpkin spice to apple pie

One of my favourite desserts to eat in autumn is a crumble. You can have different kinds of crumbles such as apple crumble, pear crumble or plum crumble. People can eat it by itself, or it is extra yummy served with custard or ice-cream.

Actually, "dessert" is a word more commonly used in the U.S, in Britain people like to say "pudding" :) For us a pudding is a sweet food people after a meal. For example, after dinner people might enjoy an apple crumble for pudding.

A crumble is very easy to make, it is oats with fruit on top. You can either put the oats and fruit in the oven and bake them for around 15 minutes, or you can boil the fruit in some water and fry the oats in a pan with a little oil, then serve them together in a bowl.

A crumble is a hot pudding, so it is perfect for chilly autumn months. As it is normally eaten in autumn or winter, people use seasonal fruit like apples, pears and plums.

If you would like a recipe, try searching for 'Joe Wicks' - a popular British chef.
