Writing is both a discipline and an art. IELTS examiners would like to see writing that is specific and to the point, yet at the same time artistic and of course, without any mistakes. I help my students understand how to do this in my lessons. First, I have to see their production so I can decide where their mistakes are. Second, we have to work together to produce writing that is both specific and artistic, whether General IELTS or Academic, both have to be clear and to the point, whether using excellent sentences to make the message clear. Finally, after I look at the drafts, I inform the students how to improve, and ask them to re-write till they get the writing the way the IELTS examiners want them and students get the band they need to travel to another country or enter a university of their choice. My material is available and also some interactive websites are used in the lessons.
