Here's a fun way to practice speaking, answering questions, listening, and asking questions. We are practicing the building blocks of a good conversation.

Detalles de la lección

You will practice speaking, answering questions, listening, and asking questions. We are practicing the building blocks of a good conversation.

Each of us will bring 1-2 items to show. You can bring anything you want! A piece of clothing, jewelry, a toy, food…anything you want to talk about. We will both introduce our items, and ask each other questions about the items.

Class Format

1.      The speaker will begin by talking about their item, the student should try and talk for 3-5 minutes. Here are some ideas of what you can talk about:

a.      How does it look/feel/smell/sound?

b.      What is it made from?

c.       Where did it come from?

d.      How often do you use it?

e.      Why is it special/important to you?

f.        Is there a funny/sad/romantic story you can share about it?

2.      The listener will be paying attention to the speaker, and the listener will ask follow up questions. The listener should ask at least 5 follow up questions. Here are some examples:

a.      You mentioned______, can you tell me more about that?

b.      Is this item expensive? Where can I buy one too?

c.       How do you know a good_____ from a bad ______?

3.      Then the speaker and listener will switch roles, and the new speaker will share their item, and the new listener will ask questions.

Inspiration for Items to Bring
