Nice to meet you! I’m Wakaba.
Thank you for taking a look at my profile.
[About me]
My major in university was linguistics. After graduating I became a company employee but in 2004 I became a Japanese tutor. I taught Japanese in Sichuan in China for one year.
Since 2006 I have been teaching Japanese in Kyoto, and it’s now been 13 years. I have taught exchange students and businesswomen/men from over 30 different countries, including nurses, developers, embassy staff members, and people from many other walks of life.
I also teach aspiring Japanese tutors.
[Teaching style]
Please talk a lot. I think in order to learn a new language, speaking that language is crucial. On top of that, what is it you want to do with your Japanese? I would like to help you implement the Japanese you want and need to use during our lessons.

[About my thoughts]
The first time I got to participate in a homestay experience was in Korea when I was a High School student. I enjoyed it so much back then, so I went on a student exchange to Mexico. I made so many friends. Even if our countries and languages are different, we are ultimately the same.
That’s why I love getting to know new countries and to learn and teach languages.
Let’s study together!
