Hello! My name is Joseph. I am new to Cafetalk. I think you would enjoy Speaking English with me. I hope we can become friends and grow together.
 
Speaking to another person in their native language is really interesting and fun. I taught junior and senior high school for 11 years and I saw many students become fluent and gain confidence as they became comfortable speaking English.
 
But I have also helped many adults, including teachers, to improve their speech. I don't worry too much about grammar. The more you can speak, the easier it becomes to study the details. Communication comes first. Let's learn by doing.
 
For example, when I wrote my first book on Japanese gardens, I had no experience. But I gradually met many professional people who became my teachers. This made it easier for me to understand. Now I have 3 books on Japanese gardens published.
 
Originally I am a painter from New York City and I worked as a freelance designer and illustrator in Tokyo for many years. I think having a goal, no matter how big or small, gives us the energy to work hard. I will pay attention to your needs and your abilities as you move toward your goal.
